L'APARADOR (the SHOP WINDOW) CONFLUENCES IN A SPACE or MAPS IN THE MEMORY A series offered by Mercè Alsina The artists who take part in the series will intervene in the Aparador (Shop Window) with ideas based on subjective constructions, offering private visions of the street relations phenomenon (attitudes, impressions, actions, images, recreations...). The spectators’ constructions will also be subjective; in the Aparador they will find a unique element in common urban space. Each intervention will bring them new elements with which to draw up their respective personal maps. The scene of the confluence is the collective space to which we are all invited. There we find different ways of living in and thinking about the world. They are the indecipherable channels of passions, emotions, fears, desires... The aparador is a space which borders on the street and which, to a certain extent, forms part of it and the project precisely emphasizes this proximity. The street is by nature a space in which people relate, where attraction and interest occur through contact, by chance. It is the laboratory in which our identity is shaped, where we generate our interdependence, where we receive and generate information. In the series, which contemplates 12 interventions from different artists, the unique space of the Aparador itself is suggested as a reference point. A space which occurs merely by looking: the mirror effect reflecting the street. This is the space referred to in the project title, a private space because only he who looks knows what he sees. This moment of confluence between the intervention welcomed by the aparador, the street scene reflected in it and the expression of he who is looking, which is also reflected there. So the project makes sense when it is used from the street, when it is carried out by individuals who have been invited by chance to take part in a confluence. |
