Artist's House

LA CASA DEL PINTOR (THE ARTIST’S HOUSE)
Located right next to the Museum, it is an old house in Lluís Duran Street, where Joan Abelló was born, joined to neighbouring houses which the artist  purchased one by one in order to find a place for the works of art and objects he was acquiring and which gradually became the artist’s museum house. The Casa del Pintor Abelló is the house of a collector artist: rooms, stairs, ground floor, basement, upper floors... A labyrinth where the visitor, little by little, discovers the artist’s complex, interesting and diverse collection.  A monumental portal, which once belonged to the convent of Angels in Barcelona, leads us into the lobby. A large photograph of Abelló welcomes us. In a glass case, like a small resumé of the master’s life, we see photographs, diplomas, awards and personal objects. And here begins an itinerary through the artist’s house and through his whole art collection which the people of the town can become acquainted with on the daily guided tours.
